Don’t Eat The Lettuce is an independent food-recall information service. We read official recall notices from FDA, USDA FSIS, and manufacturers themselves, and make them easier to act on. Every fact here links the official page it came from.

We are independent. Not owned by or affiliated with FDA, USDA, FSIS, CDC, or any food manufacturer. If that ever changes, we’ll say so on this page.

We are not a regulator. We don’t announce, order, classify, or oversee recalls. The agencies do that. We quote their notices as they wrote them, and we don’t issue warnings of our own.

No medical or disposal advice. We don’t give medical advice, and we don’t add instructions the official notice doesn’t contain. Symptom language and “contact a healthcare provider” lines are the official notice’s words, not ours. For questions about your health, talk to your healthcare provider.

The official notice is the source of truth. If anything on this site disagrees with the official page — even a detail — follow the official page. When a source doesn’t state something, we label it missing rather than fill it in.

Meat, poultry, and egg products. FSIS publishes the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline on its own pages: 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854), Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, year-round. Call them with questions about a meat, poultry, or egg product.
